Online Dating – Lying About Age

Online Dating - Lying About Age

Online dating is a medium many are using to meet potential dates.

Lying on an online dating site in order to make oneself appear more attractive is quite common.

People do it because they want to give themselves the best opportunity to meet someone online.

Here are a few reasons why you shouldn’t do this.

Dishonesty

If you truly want someone who will take you seriously, lying about your age is a bad start.

This person will ultimately find out and will feel betrayed.

You may think that it isn’t a big deal because it is just age after all, but it is.

It makes you out to be deceitful and that may make potential dates wonder what else you are being deceitful about.

That doesn’t bode well for you when a potential date can’t trust you.

Disgust

You will disgust a potential date.

They will feel a sense of disgust that you couldn’t be honest.

There are many members on dating sites who place age specifications for the type of person that they are seeking.

When they realize that you are not in that age specification and they were lied to, they may feel disgust to the point where they will want no further communication with you.

It’s a feeling that hits people on a visceral level leaving them in a negative mood.

Disappointment

You may have been communicating with someone for weeks and are poised to meet.

Everything has been going well up until this point.

You both meet only for them to noticeably see that you appear older or younger than you represented yourself to be on the dating site.

This may cause a strong sense of disappointment in your date.

All those weeks of communication on the dating site would have been for nothing.

Don’t falsely believe that all you have to do is build rapport with them online and they will like you regardless of your age when you meet them in life.

It doesn’t work that way.
