Dating Website - How To Format And Upload Your Photos

If you have decided to give online dating a go, formatting and uploading a photo to your dating profile is very important.

Profiles with photos are 15 times more likely to receive messages than those without.

However, just not any type of photo will do.

There are some do’s and don’ts involved.

Welcome to the exciting world of online dating.

Here is how to go about formatting and uploading a photo to your profile.

Out With The Old

In order to be successful in online dating, you have to have a photo on your dating profile.

You suddenly have a dilemma.

You still have that old Polaroid Supercolor 635 camera vintage 1985.

Remember how cool you thought it was to snap those photos and watch them slide out into your hands an instant later.

Okay, I admit, those were pretty cool for the times but times have changed.

Therefore, out with the Polaroid Supercolor 635.

Also, out with using your cell phone.

The photos you take on your cell phone will be of poor quality when you upload them to the dating site.

Cell phones really aren’t designed to take high quality photos.

Also, out with using your webcam.

Like cell phones, these will only result in uploading grainy photos to your profile.

You don’t want to do that.

What do you need then?

A good digital camera.

Just about any digital camera on the market today will be fine.

Go to your local department store and get one.

It will be more than worth it.

Taking The Photo

Now, once you have one, snap a few pictures of yourself and please do smile in the photos.

Also, take them somewhere that has good lighting.

Avoid darker spaces like the patio of your backyard or your basement.

Do it somewhere that compliments you but make sure that your face comes through clearly in the photo.

Okay, so now you have a decent photo of yourself.

That’s a step in the right direction.

Formatting 1

Once you get on the dating site and start filling out your online dating profile, you will eventually reach the “upload” photo section.

Okay, don’t freak out.

Remember that you took some photos of yourself with your new flashy digital camera.

Now, all you have to do is upload those photos into the dating site.

When you purchase your digital camera, make sure you purchase a USB cable as well.

Some digital cameras come with this and others don’t, so make sure you have this.

Then, connect your USB cable from your digital camera into your computer’s hard drive.

Your computer may automatically ask you if you want to import the images.

Go ahead and do that.

It may then provide a slot for you to name your photos, so go ahead and name them.

Hitting import is very important because what that does is allows your computer to download your photos into your hard drive in JPEG format.

Most dating sites will give you a range of formats that they accept; GIF, JPEG, PNG, BMP or TIFF formats, but JPEG is by far the most popular and easiest to format.

Most dating sites do not want photos larger than 5 MB.

Formatting 2

If your computer doesn’t offer the “import” images option then all you have to do is make sure that when you download the photos into your computer, you use the “save as” button to save the photos in JPEG format.

The reason why it is best to use a JPEG format for your photos is because of the accuracy of its dimensions.

The width and height “pixels” as well as the horizontal and vertical “dpi” resolutions will typically transfer best into the dating site’s system, allowing your photo to transfer cleanly.

By using other image formats other than JPEG, you run the risk of your photos losing resolution or being overly compressed when uploaded into the dating site.

Imagine the impression you will leave if people find photos on your profile with such poor resolution that they are out of focus or so compressed that they are hard to make out.

Uploading

Now that’s done, all you have to do is go back to the dating site and click the upload photo option.

The dating site will then give you a “browse” option.

Click that.

Go to your pictures section in your computer’s hard drive, click that.

Voila!

Your brand new digital photos will appear.

Click on a photo and it will automatically fill the “browse” space of the dating website.

Then click upload.

In a matter of seconds, your smiling face will be up on your new online dating profile for the world to see.

You are 15 times more likely to get responses to your online dating profile if you have photos on it.

As the old adage goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
