After 1 year of the break up my ex contacted my current bf trying to insult me

It has been a year after the break up, he cheatted on me, but I still tried to get him back. After 9 months from the break up I got a new boyfriend and forgot about the ex, but he met my new boyfriend at the mall and stopped him to tell him “Hey I heard you are together with…Just to let you know, she is dumb”. I wonder why he did that, I have been good to him, I don’t know why is so mean and what he wants.
