Or would it be better to just wait for them to respond?

I just started chatting with someone on a dating site last night.

The chat seemed to be going really well and then they suddenly stopped responding around 10pm. My guess is that they fell asleep.

I have no doubt that they’re busy and at work but whenever something like this happens, would you send a quick message to start a new conversation or take that as a hint that they are either busy or not interested, and leave them to make the next move?

    Hi Ella,

Let them get back to you instead of you initiating a new conversation with them.

Make sure that you are talking to other dating options on the dating site and not just focused on this one person. This keeps you from being too overzealous or overeager with someone that you are chatting with.

People still want to feel like you are someone of value that they can pursue. If you do all the work and make it too easy for them by always being the one to keep conversations going, you could easily turn them off.
