My crush showed interest but didn't accept my friend request

My crush and I have been looking at each other for a year now. He was always so obvious when he looked at me and I think he did that because he wanted to catch my attention. Usually I wouldn’t look back. I wanted to play hard to get. He never really gave up though. He kept looking and even stared. And sometimes I would look at him and he would immediately look back. His best friend was also really obvious. For example there was one time my crush and his best friend was passing by me and they both were almost staring into my soul and his friend said “is that her?” while looking at me but I never looked back and I heard my crush sigh. His friend kind of laughed after and patted on my crush. My crush would also look at me in the hallways and he did that a lot. There was one time I looked at him twice and he noticed. Later on he just stood somewhere and we kept looking at each other. But recently I sent him a friend request on instagram but he didn’t accept it. He didn’t look at me at school either. I don’t know what to do now. I want to talk to him but I’m not sure. What should I do? And should I just ignore everything he did and just focus on him ignoring my request? So he isn’t interested? I have so many questions that I just can’t ask him because now I believe he’s not interested but I also don’t understand why he would do all the things he did. Anyways please don’t tell the whole story if this is going to be on a video lol I don’t want anyone to realize that it was me who sent a question. Thanks.

He may be interested, but is scared of what may happen in the future when he accepts your friend request. It may take him some time to process if he’s confident of accepting your friend request. Since he’s been ignoring you lately and not looking at you. He’s probably shy and nervous since you’ve been noticing him. Sometimes, boys would think in their heads “she doesn’t like me.. i cant even get the guts to talk to her.” I recommend you to talk to him in person so he can be more comfortable around you and start to be himself and not be afraid of doing his flirting tricks and charms around you.
